Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

Visit the national park of Bali, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, which is located in the heart of the tourist town Ubud. Get immersed in the rich forest foliage of the park while you wander through the park to find a sacred spring, a miniature church and centuries-old trees.

One of the main attractions of the park is its inhabitants, the monkeys. You are free to feed them bananas as they are accustomed to people. You might even get them to pose for a picture! However, while you are watching the marmosets and macaques play tag and run after each other, make sure you hide your wallets, glasses and cell phones as these cute creatures can be curious, sly and fast.

In this ancient forest, you can also find the Temple of Evil Goddess Rangda who is similar to the Russian Baba Yaga. The Balinese believe in Rangda’s ability to play dirty tricks on them so people still hold ceremonies to appease her.

The Sanctuary is also home to the Temple of Family and many other sacred and compelling sights. Come see for yourself!
